So long, and tank's for all the fish
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 10th of June 2023
Today I started off a sunny Saturday with a riverside run to help Mr B come home from hospital.
Mr B is in hospital after a fall, and his daughter (Ms S) is helping prepare his home so that he can be discharged from hospital to recover in safety and comfort. Ms S has most things shifted, but needed a hand from GoodGym moving her dad's old (empty) fish tank to make room for a safer furniture arrangement.
I ran along the Ouse on my way, meeting a gorgeous tansy beetle, and then headed to Mr B's home where I met his daughter. The tank was fairly big, very heavy, and had lots of devices attached to it.
Fortunately, my first ever job (18 years ago 😱) was in an aquatics shop and I still remember some of it. With Ms S's help, I removed and sorted the substrate, bogwood and rocks, and disconnected and sorted the filter, heater, and other components. Within 20 minutes, the tank was stored away and Ms S had a plan for shifting it and the other bits.
With Mr B one step closer to coming home, and Ms S one task closer to taking him a nice curry later, I headed off for the rest of my day.
