Today 3 GGrs and 2 other volunteers met Heeley People's Park Ranger Rob by the Crows Nest to receive a briefing of how to coppice hazel the old school way, no chainsaws, just saws and hard graft.
We welcomed new GGr David, chatting about sci-fi book recommendations and swimming 😊 while working as a productive unit. Together we coppiced 3 hazel trees, and carried the cut hazel wood to the pile where it will be woodchipped and reused in the park this spring. All in all, a great task, providing a good body work out. We look forward to returning to Heeley People's Park this year 😊
