What a lot of litter was picked 'virtually' by GoodGymers today, in place of the usual Great Salterns clean-up! We all seem to have taken the opportunity to tackle the litter eye-sores in our own neighbourhood.

Not only did Portsmouth members clean up a wide range of locations in and outside the city, but we were also joined by Tim and Pauline from GoodGym Liverpool.

Tim filled a whole binbag full of rubbish in his area and Pauline was joined by Domino & Shadow on her litter-picking route, which included the Manchester Ship Canal, Woodlands & Bridgewater Canal. Unfortunately she found the same old litter culprits of fireworks & face masks, while Shadow explored a fly-tipped toy tractor which was too big for Pauline to carry away.

Vicki and John won the prize for the largest piece of rubbish - half a roadsign showing the way to London, which they found at Hilsea Moats. They also filled several bags with recyclables including a whole bag of glass bottles.

Sam, John & Betsy found a huge quantity of litter near Burrfields bridge in Copnor. They vowed to return to tackle the litter they couldn't reach on the other side of the railings.

Katie found some Playmobil police officers guarding the litter in Southsea, while Catherine collected an impressive haul of litter in Fareham, which included Christmas bells. She also spotted decorated pebbles in a Covid-19 'snake'.

Laura tackled the paths and hedges on Milton Common and demonstrated an impressive difference in the before and after photos.

Val and I combined a litter pick with a circular walk around Southbourne, Westbourne and Emsworth and had to stop collecting when our bags became just too heavy to carry.
