I dropped by at GoodGym's sponsored plots in Buccleuch Gardens, Richmond to plant hyacinths and to leave seeds, trays and other equipment in the Arcade in preparation for the Group run session on Monday 10th April.
As usual, I got tempted to do a bit of gardening and cleared some of the woody material from The Three Pigeons Plot . We had intentionally left it in place to provide over-winter food and nesting for insects but with spring arriving today was an ideal time to clear it away. As well as making the plot look much tidier, the removal revealed an abundance of spring flowers including hellebores, hyacinths, daffodils and tulips.
As the risk of frost has now passed, I also took the protective covers off the Canarian Palms at The Arcade and cut away the dead fronds. Sadly, some are looking a bit on the dead side and others are rotting in the crown so I’m doubtful that they will recover.
