The puddles were iced over, the grass was frosty and our breath was misty, but that did not stop four runners nailing the first Wandsworth starter session of 2017.
We met at the band stand in Battersea Park where a huge race had just taken place, with a good few GoodGymers taking part. There we met the lovely Eva, joining us for the first time, Wandsworth regular Jessie who braved the cold to spread the good word, and Matthew, who had just knocked out a breezy 5k in the race that morning.
We got straight on with a tough session of circuits - 45 seconds each of tricep dips, squat holds, squat kicks, mountain climbers, planks and sprints. After three rounds of that, we weren't feeling the cold so much. After a quick breather where we discussed our fitness goals, it was off to the task.
A nippy run to the local estate later, we set about delivering leaflets for the local community garden. Doddington & Rollo estate garden needed us to spread the work about the brilliant work they do, and had given us a pile of flyers to distribute in the area. With numb fingers bringing back memories of postrounds past, we made short work of the leaflets and headed back to the park for a quick stretch.
Well done team, good deed done, fitness done - and all before Saturday afternoon! There's another starter session next week, so tell your friends. Sign up for the next group run here:
