What better way for Kash and Sevan to celebrate their second missionversary than to build some flat pack furniture for Mr G. A classic GoodGym mission task. Mr G had recently moved to Ealing and didn't know about the suburb. anyone who lived there, nor how to assemble flat pack furniture. Enter Kash and Sevan who know Ealing well and have sometimes successfully put together an Argos coffee table without too many expletives ๐Ÿคฌ

Mr G had received 4 pieces of furniture packaged in with his relocation and the priority was to build the bed. Mr G talked about his free spirited life during the task and building the bed was equally unscripted. Each box was already unpacked with the instructions sitting on top.

Kash and Sevan flicked through the bed's instructions to try and make sense of the pile of bits. The components looked weird. It was like no bed that they'd built before and some of the pieces were stuck together, which didn't help. Mr G had a solution for that though, a big chef's knife for Kash to prise the 2 sides of the bed apart ๐Ÿ”ช

Sevan realised that there was no step 1 or step 9 in the booklet. Instead, there were 2 lovely blank pages which were not "intentionally left blank" ๐Ÿ™„. Kash was worried, while Sevan was sure they'd figure it out. Figure it out they did, with the only problems being some missing screws (Mr G had decided to open the pack in another room) and the legs under the middle bar inexplicably hanging in mid air. Weird, again.

As the task went on, Mr G became less worried about the bed and more chatty. He told the GoodGymers that he'd lived in Barbados for a couple of years, before coming back because he felt detached from what was going on in the UK. This was pre-internet.

"I heard people talk about Dirty Den and Eastenders. Without the internet, there was know way of finding out what was happening back in the UK." - Mr G

"There's no Sun or Mirror in Barbados. The people who lived there read The Times, The Telegraph or The Guardian" - Mr G

Kash and Sevan managed to complete the bed, allowing Mr G to flop his new mattress onto the bed frame. Mr G tested it out and they could all hear the middle legs bouncing off the ground as he moved around on the mattress. Mr G was pretty pragmatic though and as long as the bed was solid, he could live with any other problems.

Kash and Sevan explained to Mr G how to request another task for his clothes rails and chest of drawers, then wrapped up for the day.

"Enjoy the comfortable sleep on your new bed" - Sevan

"What, on the bed that rocks!?" - Mr G
