The lie-in, the itch and the wardrobe
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 26th of January 2019
Patrick, Stefania and I met near Finsbury Park on a rather wintery Saturday afternoon to help Mrs A’s granddaughter rearrange some furniture in order for a hospital bed to be moved in. The first task was to move a mattress out to the front of the house, followed by the bed frame itself. After a lot of ‘umm’ing and ‘ahh’ing we realised dismantling the bed frame was much easier than initially thought. So in no time at all, first job done! Next was the trickier one. We had to move a huge wardrobe to another room. It was so heavy and bulky there was no way to do it without taking it apart. We didn’t think we’d manage it to begin with and had to warn Mrs A’s granddaughter that we might not be able to complete the task. An hour and a bit of back and forth with some great communication resulted in us successfully dismantling and reassembling the wardrobe in the new room. Then after a bit of an allergic reaction and a pat on the back to congratulate ourselves, we hurried home to escape the rain. Well done team!
