Many GG Yorkies were gathered for a social to celebrate our second birthday. Paul put on his second absolutely brilliant quiz for us.
A lot of January Challenge-based chat this month has been focused on the race to 50 good deeds between Ed and Craig, and whilst Craig has been really, really good, Ed had snuck ahead.
What neither of them had realised was that Brilliant Ben had been quietly and modestly doing good and not getting involved in any of these silly battles.
After the quiz, we introduced the Micklegate 50 Challenge (considerably less dangerous than the Micklegate Soapbox Challenge). Ben and Ed could both take a team of runners for a 5 minute challenge to collect as much rubbish as possible.
Leanne, always organised and efficient, set her watch ready to ensure Ben's team wasn't late. In all the excitement though she forgot to press start.
I'd stipulated one very important rule: no extracting rubbish from bins. However, people's rubbish-filled cars were fair game.
'Scuse me mate, got any rubbish in your car we can have?!
Ed's team was back just 12 seconds over time with a bag consisting of rubbish and some leaves. They also slightly tried tk cheat by bringing in a bag of commercial waste they'd found (it was disallowed).
Ben's team were a good minute over but they'd scored some quality finds including a massive bit of polystyrene, cans and a piece of broken chair.
Based on weight and having less questionable morals, we announced Ben as the winner. Each team member's bit of good was added up and both team leaders were awarded their good deed.
Ben got to wear the cape which he enjoyed swishing around (don't worry Ed, you can wear it on Monday).
