From the start I knew last night was going to be great. All my favourite people turned up and I was laughing from the moment we started chatting. A couple of new faces in the group too which is always good, and the return of a couple that I believe spent September in a drunken haze.....
Two tasks meant two groups. Those wanting to have a longer run set off the 3 mile journey down to West Norwood to help Laura and Wayne at The Open Works. The Open Works is an experimental project aimed at creating new ways that Lambeth Council can work with residents to develop a sustainable future for West Norwood: socially, economically and environmentally. We helped out by shifting some wood chips ready for a big planting session happening this weekend aimed to bring the bees back to West Norwood.
The second group took a shorter run to Loughborough Park where we met the brilliant Simon from KidsCo. Kids Co give vulnerable and traumatised children a place to feel safe and play. We were helping to weed and dig their magnificent play area. As the group had a shorter run they were treated to some circuits and a play on the slide. Standard.
In the darkness we all headed back to camp, booth groups arriving at the same time, like a a beautifully choreographed ballet.
Another great night. Thank you.
