My favourite things about last night.
There was no rain. And given the amount of rain there was earlier in the day this felt magnificent.
There were new runners. The lovely Helene, Alice, Steve and Olamide… welcome. We loved meeting you last night and hopefully see you again soon.
There were a host of our regular runners who I frankly cannot do without. Helping me with sign up, leading the runs, organising social activities and generally being dead lovely.
There were poached runners from other boroughs.. We got a bit of action from Pritesh, Patrick and Paul B.. .. result!
There was a 5 mile run to West Norwood.
There was a hill. Hills are gifts to all runners.
There was John from Portico Gallery who is an absolute legend.
There was tea made for the runners (precisely why John is a legend).
There was some sexy running - Clapham High street was our catwalk.
There were evil 300m sprints. Eight of them.
There wasn’t much rest in-between (only 30seconds for some.. mwah ha ha).
There was magnificent demonstrations of speed endurance with Milly, Emma, Jay, Becca, Marie and Damian (to name a few) who consistently hit the same time each rep.
There were swear words. The more swearing the more I’m inclined to think I’m giving an excellent training session.
There was a beautiful sunset over Clapham Common.
There was risqué chat – mainly pig–gate and Axel's nipples.
There was Cake. A wonderful, light, tasty, zesty, fruity Victoria Sponge baked by the fair hands of Rosie.
THERE WAS THE PUB.
