Let's get bed into shape before Christmas!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.

This morning I met up with Victoria and Anna for a mission in Southwark for Mr P.
Mr P is currently recovering from an infection in hospital and needs an operation to replace a joint. To get him in the best possible place for the operation, he's going to be released home for a few weeks to convalesce, and, to make it easier for him to live on a single floor while he's home, he needed a bed moved downstairs to a living room (with a sofa bed making the reverse trip). GoodGym were asked if we could help with this.
We were met at Mr P's by his friend, P, who wasn't backwards in offering us a hot cup of whatever we fancied to start the day off (I'm going to have to mind my P's in the following!)
Our first task (after removing anything breakable from the stairwell) was to dismantle the bed for bringing downstairs. Rather wonderfully, despite being one of those single recliner beds with a beast of a motor fitted to its underside, everything was held together by simply gravity and friction: A couple of carefully applied whacks with a spanner by P meant the bed was dismantled enough to be taken downstairs.
Bed downstairs, we moved onto the sofa bed. This was a slightly trickier ticket, requiring both Allen keys and pliars to dismantle. Luckily, we had a few tools available and so it only took the four of us 5 minutes or so to get it into an appropriate state of déshabillé for moving upstairs. While Victoria and Anna grappled with that, I rebuilt the bed with P, using some well-placed kicks to reverse the previous tender ministrations of the spanner.
Our last task was to rebuild the sofa bed upstairs. Victoria and P did most of this between them, so Anna and I made ourselves useful by re-hanging the pictures in the hallway and occasionally holding things. Job done!
We all felt very satisfied to be finished within 30 minutes and headed off for the day with P's praise ringing in our ears. Hopefully this all means that Mr P will be able to come home relatively soon 😄
It was a pleasure working with you, Anna and Victoria! 😃
