Trimming brambles and raking leaves
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Portsmouth.
- Friday, 22nd of December 2023
Here's what Mr D of PO3 had to say about the mission:
Feedback from referrer: "I have just spoken to Mr D and he is so pleased with what the volunteers have done. In his words "They were a joy. I'm so pleased." I thought I'd pass that on to you all. Thank you again."
Abby and I returned to help Mr D with his garden - we'd enjoyed clearing it, earlier this year.
Abby revisited her pathological dislike of bay trees when Mr D said he plans to reduce or remove the bay in his garden, but she didn't get the chance to tackle it this time. Instead, she got to grips with the thorny brambles taking over one side of the garden.
Meanwhile I raked and bagged the piles of dead leaves across the garden, discovering a hidden patio.
We finished by planting a selection of bulbs in Mr D's front garden, as well as getting a masterclass in growing citrus fruits from green-fingered Mr D.
A warming way to spend a chilly December day.
