Turning over (hundreds of) new leafs
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Friday, 13th of October 2017
A windy, autumnal Friday lunchtime at the extreme edge of Wandsworth borough (technically Merton with a Croydon postcode?!) was the scene for a fairly short notice mission, tidying Mrs P's enormous back garden. Mark, David (impressively direct from another Mission on the other side of South London) and I were put to task upon arrival, the objective being to rake the substantial lawn in preparation for mowing.
Such was the leaf-fall from the neighbour's tree that I could barely distinguish the grass from the flower beds. Not to be dissuaded, we raked from each end and met in the middle, racing to scoop up the foliage faster than it fell on us. Overall, we won, to the extent that mowing was now possible and Mrs P seemed impressed. Not only that, but Mark and David managed to weed two large flower beds, filling two large sacks with the offending plant-life.
Overall, 'weed id' it. Before and after shots proved that the job was done and we beat the rain. Not a bad Friday lunchtime and more rewarding than going to the pub.
