9 ran to Moulsham mill to Interact with the garden
9 of us met at the ideas hub this week and warmed up with a glutes and core set with squats, lunges and arabesque. Once we were sure everything was activated we set off on the 1.2k run to Moulsham mill. This is the base of the InterAct charity and we have made several visits to their Aspire garden which is really taking shape. this gives young people with learning difficulties a place to come and relax and learn about how things grow.
Ground clearance
We all dug in and cleared the garden surrounding what will be the patio area, then moved over to the wildlife garden and cleared yet more stinging nettles from this before spreading the soil. this continued until we ran out of light, despite the best efforts of Lewis and Gerry who had brought some lights with them. This slightly earlier finish left us with plenty of time for more exercise!
More fitness fun
After a run back along the river we added another exercise set with dips, press ups and mountain climbers before setting up a relay to finish. Newbie Greg got stuck in pushing the pace and an epic leg from Rachel and the teams were even at half way. a brilliant and close fought relay finished and we stretched down to finish the evening. Much talk of the social with pub quiz being favorite for the opening meeting, and don't forget to sign up for next weeks session where we will be visiting the farm (despite the lack of pigs) at the Hylands School. sign up here
