Sophie and I volunteered at a very festive Desborough Suite vaccination clinic this evening. Check out the gorgeous tree decorated with baubles made from vaccine vials! There were only 5 vaccination stations open so it was relatively quiet, but there was still a steady stream through the door and approximately 300-350 people got their jabs, including both booked appointments and walk-ins.
We were rotated around so we got to do a variety of jobs, from squirting people with sanitiser to booking in on the computer, cleaning chairs and managing the queue. In every position there was the opportunity to chat to patients, which was a pleasure. We also had some delicious panettone and a cup of tea!
Sophie reported that she was surprised by how few people wanted a sticker at the end (not like the 4 year olds we know!) and Amy got a surprise too when a patient returned to the clinic with a big box Quality Street...the message he gave the people on the door was, "That girl over there in the snowman hat flashed me her chest and I thought she deserved a box of chocolates." Wow, who knew showing someone the GoodGym logo could be so powerful!
