We don’t want any rubble
6 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Hackney.

6 GoodGymers gathered at Hackney City Farm this Tuesday to help with the start of the farm’s 6 month plan to improve the soil along the edge of the field in preparation for new hedge seedlings to be planted in Autumn. Step one was clearing large pieces of rubble from the soil. Having been quite a built up area pre-WW2, there is a lot of debris from the old houses mixed in with the soil, which makes it difficult to plant anything. Our mission over the next few months will be to remove as much rubble as possible, and add manure to the soil to improve the quality and add nutrients for the plants to grow. Everyone felt the benefit of getting out and helping with this task, and enjoyed the chance to see the lovely farm animals.
