We rose to the challenge once again!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Croydon.
- Sunday, 29th of April 2018
Amatare, Lorraine & I arrived to clear Mrs G on what was a dreary but thankfully dry Sunday morning.
The mission was to clear everything in Mrs G’s flowerbeds with the exception of her prized rose bushes.
We each selected our weapons of choice and set about clearing the beds on each side of the garden ensuring we avoided those prickly rose bushes as we went! We even encountered some fragrant onions as we cleared the beds but managed to hold back the tears and continue the task.
In addition to clearing the flowerbeds, we also stripped back the footpath & relocated her collection of flowerpots (one being a cute up-cycled teapot) to provide better access around the garden.
Whilst we worked, it was great to hear about Lorraine’s upcoming 21 bridge challenge in aid of the Jimmy Mizen Foundation and the other way Amatare volunteers his time visiting prisoners; very admirable support for worthy causes.
Upon finishing the mission, Mrs G was extremely thankful & was keen to have GoodGym come back again. Fingers crossed, the group on the next mission can unearth her previously misplaced shears!
