We ROSE to the occasion as BUDding GoodGym Gardening Apprentices
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Richmond.
- Friday, 6th of July 2018
Samia and Nicky branched out into Twickenham this week to complete a follow up gardening mission for an elderly lady in her mid eighties.
After a fantastic welcome we were guided to the garden, issued with our own summery straw hats and under the shade of the rose bushes we had a lovely personal tutorial on how to strip and save garden bulbs to use for a second season. Not only was it a lovely money saving tip but it was also an extremely therapeutic activity!! If only more Missions were this relaxing!
It was lovely to hear more about all the good deeds that our mission recipient performs for her local community and we’re glad that for once she could be the one benefiting from the help.
Bulbs sorted and stored we moved onto the bushes. Dead heading the roses and shaping the taller bushes. Stretched on tiptoes it provided a full body workout and our budding green fingers blossomed under our expert tutor.
Extra big shout out has to go to Star GoodGymer Samia who chose to come straight from work on her HER BIRTHDAY and humbly said that being able to help this lady, who has helped so many others, was a lovely way to celebrate!!! Thank you for being such an awesome and inspiring mission buddy.
