What a hedge is going on here?!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Saturday, 29th of July 2017
Frances and Gosia visited Mrs S in Wandworth this weekend and took on few beautifying tasks for her garden. The weather was very nice and sunny in the morning so we arrived at the door very cheerful and fully charged up! We started the job right after a very warm welcome from Mrs S.
Firstly, we took care of an overgrown hedge. The twigs were very long and have already started to "attack" pedestrians. Shaping up this green monster was not easy but a very satisfying task. There is this thing though that you have never enough of it ("Maybe just a little bit more here!", "What about this one here?!"). Eventually, we agreed to that we are happy with the outcome and so was Mrs S :). We filled 5 x bin bags with trimmed twigs and leaves, leaving the hedge neat and tidy.
Later we moved to the backyard garden, where we took up few maintenance tasks. The rest of the mission was spent on removing dead flowers and leaves, cutting back some of the plants and sorting out an omnipresent weed competition. All tools were kindly provided by Mrs S which helped us deal with the tasks in a most professional way! As a result we filled another 2 x bin bags with the trimmings and weeds. The rain has started right after noon so we agreed that was a sign to head home.
Mrs S was visibly glad and grateful for the GG help. We don't feel we have exhausted the list of tasks so maybe there will be a chance to re-visit her soon. What a "good" Saturday morning!
