What a Load of Old Rot
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the Maidenhead Community Allotment in Windsor and Maidenhead.

We were set a new task at the community allotment for this session - to put together two compost heaps. We were provided with the raw materials - rotten apples, cardboard, newspaper, old spinach stalks and the all-important horse manure. Nicola and Sheila set to work building up layers of each material in the compost bins, and repeating until we had used all the materials. Some great smells emanated from the bags, which drove Diya to take on watering the baby spinach plants and hoeing the raised bed instead! We left the bacteria, fungi and worms to do their stuff over the winter, and hopefully there will be some beautiful compost come the spring

Great title and report Sheila! For once, it did not sound like fun 😂 but good on you lot for handling that rot!
