What is it about fridges that makes me so shelf conscious?
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Friday, 31st of May 2019
Mr R is blind and depends on his wife to make meals for him. When she needs to go away for a day or two, she'll make food in advance and leave it in the fridge. However with just such a trip on the horizon, their fridge and freezer stopped working. Not cool.
Thus a plan was hatched. A new combination fridge freezer was arranged and to facilitate its arrival the defective fridge and freezer units - and another old fridge freezer - needed to be removed from the property. This would make space inside for the new appliance and would mean the council could come and collect the old ones.
This is where GoodGym was able to play its part. The mission went up on the website and those red (and black) shirted crusaders Lucia, Yangki and James answered the call. We met at Mr R's house at midday on Friday and made quick work of the whiteware, manoeuvring each unit out of the property, down the stairs without touching the freshly painted bannister, and outside to a convenient pickup spot.
It took just half an hour of our time but it will make a real difference to Mr and Mrs R's quality of life.
