Today was my 2nd visit to Mr D and he was really pleased to see me and instantly offered me a cup of tea. He seemed really excited and explained that it had been many years since he had got to make a cup of tea for a visitor and then got out a two pack of custard tarts (which he calls flans) for us too. He had bought them in especially for my visit so was really happy that I had turned up as expected. He had told his son (Who lives far away) about my first visit and about how much he’d enjoyed having someone to talk too. It really made me realise that spending my dinner hour having a chat with with someone can make such a difference to them. We were both much more relaxed today and were able to hike and he pulled my leg. I mentioned my husband’s car - a clapped out Range Rover - and Dave was off telling me about cars he’s had including how he wrote of his own Range Rover on the M25 many years ago. I said his driving must be worse than mine!!! He said he would grade me on how well I could reverse off his drive. It was a welcome break for me between work appointments and I know he appreciated it too.
