After a busy morning with ParkRun and a GoodGym litterpicking task I thought I was going to do a leisurely tip up shop before going home for lunch. Got part way round Sainsburys and saw one of the managers who sometimes checks on the FoodCycle Collection. “Glad you’ve come,” he said, “can you collect the surplus.” I explained that we only collect for FoodCycle on a Tuesday , but he was pretty insistent as there was a lot of surplus that he didn’t want to throw away , including some flowers if I’d like some. The power of flower persuasion… I said I could collect the food and take anything that will keep to FoodCycle and offered to take anything else to All Saints tomorrow as a mini food bank for any parishoners and asylum seekers who might be in need. Chris was happy and I was soon loading up my car for the second time this week. Got home and have sorted three boxes for FoodCycle and lots of goodies to take to All Saints tomorrow including a large number of bunches of flowers which we can give out to parishioners. Feeling tired but pleased to be able to help others while keeping so much food out of landfill.
