This morning, once again, I got the last minute call to see if I could help with the surplus collection for FoodCycle as they still haven't foiund any other volunteers to help with this role. So I packed up my work early and rushed off to Sainsbury's in the hope off having at least a fraction of what we collected last week.
Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Not only was the store short staffed so that I had to wait almost 45minutes for anyone to come and talk to me, when they did arrive it was only to tell me that there was no fruit of veg left for collection today. Not only was there no fruit, but no chilled products or bakery products either. What a disappointment! Fortunately I had been given some Quorn vouchers last week, so I dashed home for them and returned to by up enough Quorn sausages to feed 50. Hopefully they would be put together with some of the stored cupboard items at FoodCycle to make a hearty main course for the guests.
