It was my first visit to see Mr D and what a delight that was. He doesn't get any visitors as his son and daughter live in Norwich and Gloucester and he had been trying for some time to get a visitor from Goodgym. I was slightly nervous when I saw various signs in his garden saying to beware of the dog, but he laughed and said the only old dog was himself! We had a lovely chat exchanging stories about plumbing (he was a gas engineer and was able to trouble shoot problems with my boiler from me describing them). We then talked about knee replacements and he couldn't believe that he had refused one as no one told him what it involved and he thought they would have to cut his leg off below the knee. I was able to reassure him with how well my other half's knee replacement had gone. He really laughed at how mistaken he'd been. It was lovely break in my otherwise busy day. I shall look forward to seeing Mr D again sometime and hope that one or two other Goodgymer can perhaps fit him into their schedules too.
